Althea June – Artist Bio

Althea June is a singer, songwriter, and dreamer—born in shadow, raised by sound. Her music exists in the quiet spaces between words, where emotion settles before it’s fully understood. With a gift for capturing what often goes unspoken, she writes songs that remember what the world forgets: tenderness, longing, resilience, and the slow work of becoming.

Blending heartfelt lyrics with soulful melodies, Althea June creates music for those navigating love, loss, transformation, and renewal. Her songs do not rush toward resolution; instead, they invite listeners to sit with feeling, to reflect, and to recognize themselves within the story. Each track feels like a private conversation—gentle, honest, and deeply human.

With a voice that carries both vulnerability and quiet strength, Althea crafts intimate, unguarded moments in song—the kind that linger long after the last note fades. Influenced by soul, R&B, and indie music, her sound is timeless yet deeply personal, shaped by poetic storytelling and evocative soundscapes. Her music favors emotional truth over spectacle, allowing simplicity, space, and nuance to do the work.

Althea June’s debut album, Lines Unwritten, introduced her as an artist drawn to beginnings—the pages before certainty, the feelings before definition. The album explores vulnerability, possibility, and the courage it takes to live with unanswered questions. From there, her work continued to unfold with intention. Lingering Tides examines emotional memory and the way certain feelings return long after moments pass, while Elements in Time reflects on growth, patience, and the quiet strength found in allowing life to move at its own pace. Her fourth album, Metaphors of the Soul, turns inward, exploring identity, faith, and the deeper language of emotion through reflection rather than explanation.

Her fifth album, Still Becoming, marks a gentle turning point—an embrace of presence, acceptance, and the understanding that growth is not always visible, but always unfolding. This sense of quiet evolution continues in her sixth album, Moments Unsaid, a deeply reflective collection centered on the emotions we carry but rarely express—where silence, memory, and unspoken truths find their voice through music.

With her seventh album, A Different Key, Althea June steps into a new sonic landscape, exploring a cool jazz and easy listening style. Here, her music becomes even more spacious and unhurried, allowing subtlety and stillness to guide the experience. It is not a departure, but a soft shift—an invitation to listen differently, and to discover what reveals itself in the spaces between sound and silence.

Alongside her albums, Althea June has released eleven singles that capture moments between chapters—standalone reflections that mark transitions, realizations, and emotional shifts. These songs expand her narrative, offering glimpses into longing, resilience, hope, and renewal, while remaining connected to the larger arc of her work.

Taken together, Althea June’s catalog feels like a living journal—one that honors both fragility and strength, silence and sound. Through her music, she hopes listeners feel seen, understood, and less alone, discovering that their own stories, too, are worthy of being heard. Ultimately, her work is an invitation: to feel deeply, to move gently through change, and to find the courage to grow wings and fly.

What role did new technology play in creating this music album?
Technology was a vital spark, yet it only shines when guided by human hands. The heart, the soul, and the story of this music are entirely mine.

How did you create Lines Unwritten?
The seed of Lines Unwritten was planted in quiet moments — fragments of lyrics scribbled in notebooks, voice memos recorded at odd hours, and melodies born from lived experiences. The title reflects the emotions, thoughts, and stories that often go unspoken, existing between the lines of everyday life. I wrote most of the lyrics myself, refining them over multiple drafts until every line fit my vision. My years of classical guitar and writing poetry gave me the tools to shape these ideas into music that feels alive and intimate. New technology offered unexpected possibilities, subtle sparks along the way, but every note, phrase, and emotion was guided by my hands, my heart, and my story, yet touched by a hint of the unknown. In the end, the heart of these songs comes from me. I also directed the entire sound of the album — choosing arrangements, instrumentation, tempo, and vocal style. Even when technology helped with certain parts of the production, I made every creative choice from the first lyric to the final mix.

    What does “Lines Unwritten” mean?
It’s about the moments, thoughts, and emotions we don’t always put into words — the stories that live between what’s said and what’s felt. Each track explores a different emotional space, but together they form a portrait of those unspoken truths. The cover captures the feeling of Lines Unwritten visually — a blend of mystery, color, and open space, symbolizing both what is said and what’s left unsaid.

Where can I listen to the album?
Lines Unwritten is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal, and more. You can also find my music on Instagram Music, Facebook, and TikTok’s sound library.

What inspired the sound of the album?
The album draws inspiration from neo-soul and warm acoustic textures, with subtle electronic elements woven in to create a modern, inviting sound. I’ve always admired artists like Adele, Sarah McLachlan, and Alicia Keys for their emotive vocals and cinematic arrangements, and that influence guided the direction here. Piano plays a central role throughout, giving the album a mellow and intimate feel, while one track features mostly acoustic guitar to add a touch of rawness and variety.

    Who produced the album?
I worked independently on all aspects of Lines Unwritten, from songwriting to arrangement and final mix. While I asked family members for casual feedback during the process, I made every artistic choice myself to ensure the music reflected my personal vision. Mixing and mastering focused on creating space for the vocals to breathe while letting the instrumentation carry emotional weight. The goal was not perfection but authenticity — preserving the nuances that made each take feel alive.

“Music is a living, breathing art — constantly evolving, inviting us to listen not just with our ears, but with our hearts. Embrace the new evolution and discover the endless possibilities within every note.”
